Our 2024 Sponsorship Recipients

Creative Hiatus Productions

We generate and produce creative and uniquely structured musicals and performances in traditional and non-traditional venues. We have a hyper local focus, prioritizing live local talent, avoiding recording soundtracks and musical overdubs. Seattle is our hometown and we give employment and creative platforms to hidden gems while uncovering new perspectives.

Golf Pencil Group

We are a cohort of Seattle teaching artists who bring creative writing practices to adults surviving incarceration and trauma. We strive to provide students of all levels with meaningful access to artistic and emotional expression, and encourage friendship and community in an environment that can otherwise feel hostile. Some students come to class to hone their craft; others discover their voice. We envision a world of collective care and healing, and we affirm our students as agents in their own empowerment and transformation.

Made Space Seattle

Made Space {formerly The Liink Project} is an Art, Culture, and Business Hub activated in early 2021. It is about connecting emerging Black creatives and entrepreneurs with resources, space, knowledge, and visibility. Beyond a space, Made Space is a concept. Its about partnership, knowledge and cooperative economics and THRIVING TOGETHER.

PNW BIPOC Farmland Trust

The Pacific Northwest Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (PNW BIPOC) Farmland Trust is an emerging land trust that is led by and for BIPOC farmers. We believe a key determinant of BIPOC communities’ health outcomes is our food sovereignty. Having food sovereignty means we, BIPOC farmers and communities have authority over the means of food production and distribution.

Pratidhwani

Pratidhwani is a community driven, volunteer run, performing arts non-profit founded to support South Asian arts and artists in the Seattle area. We also create educational and performing opportunities across the spaces of theatre, music and dance by and for artists in Seattle.

Southeast Asian Comedy Collective

The Southeast Asian Comedy Collective works to upend commonly held cultural stereotypes by highlighting the diverse cultures and identities of what it means to be a person of color in America.

The UpNUp Podcast Program

Our program ‘The UpNUp Podcast’ since 2018, has been the center of media/broadcasting in the Greater-Seattle region, amplifying the voices of the underrepresented/BIPOC leaders in our community. It’s imperative for us tell our own stories and set the narrative to breaking narratives/stories that come out of our communities, in this case more specifically our underrepresented/underutilized, low-income, marginalized community and communities alike.

FAQ

Am I eligible?

We accept applications from both non-profit, fiscally-sponsored, and for-profit organizations (any for-profit business must be a culture and community building organization that is BIPOC owned, operates under $250,000 annually, and can demonstrate that they are doing social good).

How do you decide who gets a Sponsorship?

Our funding decisions will prioritize Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) – led and serving organizations, organizations that can clearly outline their impact in their communities, and organizations that demonstrate a commitment to racial justice work. (For more information on what that might look like for your org, visit this website). We welcome applications from newer organizations, wherever you are in your journey.

Wasn’t this called a grant in previous years or is this something different?
In order to include small BIPOC-owned businesses who are serving our community, we have switched from a grants to sponsorship model. For applicants, nothing is different, but the pool is wider for those who might not be a non-profit or fiscally sponsored. For recipients, the only difference is that they are required to announce our sponsorship of them publicly, either in a social media post, email to their community, or something similar.

How Does A Sponsorship Work?

If you are selected for a sponsorship, there will be no reporting needed, but you are consenting to announce our sponsorship of your organization at least once in your Marketing (either in a newsletter blast, social media post, or the like) and you are consenting to our use of your organization’s name and logo in our sponsorship announcements.

I’ve already received a sponsorship, can I apply again?

If you have received an award from SK in the past 2 years (2022 or 2023), we ask that you refrain from applying to give other organizations more opportunity.

When will I hear back about my application?

We will notify you as to the status of your application by the end of September. Should you have questions about eligibility or the application process, please feel encouraged to reach out to Megan Ahiers ([email protected]).
